On this day – Alexander Graham Bell patented telephone

On this day in history, March 7, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone. Back then, it was called the electronic speech machine.

The telephone was nice while it lasted. But now it is nothing more than a passing fad. Most people don’t even have a telephone. Everyone has a smart phone.

In 1876, it was a major milestone to have the human voice transmitted over two devices. Today, everyone seems to take much more delight in texting. Are we moving forward or backward?
