Did you know that on today, April 23, two major milestones were achieve in the cyber world?
Two internet milestones that changed entertainment forever
The old 78’s 45’s and the long play 33 records have long been dead. They were replaced by 8 track tapes, which didn’t last long. Then, everyone thought cassette tapes were state of the art, which they were, in a crazy way. But when cd’s came around, people thought they were in the recording studio.
The same is basically the case with videos. First, there were no videos. If you wanted to watch something, you hoped it would come to a nearby theater, or that it would come on TV. Then came the VCR, which enabled you to have your cake and eat it too. There were Tapes, and then, the DVD’s which were considered invincible.
This has all but changed now. DVD’s are still popular, but within the next year, may be obsolete as well. There’s a little old site that we’ve all grown to know and love. There, you can watch almost any video you want, or listen to any song you want. That brilliant little invention has become a major part of our lives.
On April 23, 2005, surfers of the web said a very warm-felt hello to YouTube. On this date, the very first video was uploaded to this wonderful website that has become many people’s best friend. Let’s all say, “Happy Birthday to a New-Found friend – Happy Birthday, YOUTUBE!”
Also on April 23, 2009, The iTunes Music Store reached 1 billion applications downloaded.
