Why do taxpayers give banks billions of dollars a year?

Most of the largest US Banks are not even profitable

Suppose the billions of dollars they earn for their shareholders are entirely a gift from American Taxpayers.

Here’s what happens. The banks that are too big to fail are told by the government, “Don’t worry. We’ll bail you out.” In other words, the American taxpayer will bail them out. Banks are given 3 cents of every tax dollar collected.

This eliminates the risk. Banks are getting money cheaper than from anywhere else, which in turn, increases their profits. Creditors of the banks have no risk, because they know they’ll get their money back
